About Me - Eric Todd Photography

I'm a life long resident of Massachusetts and took up photography as a hobby in 2012.  I've been developing my skills and establishing a style which is almost entirely based in black and white.  I'm drawn to black and white because it isn't required to look like a literal interpretation of a scene.  Many of my images are dark and moody intentionally because I feel it makes them more unique.  I'm most satisfied with my photographs when they are taken in less than ideal weather conditions- fog, rain, snow and mist can dramatically transform a normal scene or subject into something that is mysterious and interesting.  Black and white also allows for more creative developing.  I can lighten and darken certain areas to create focal areas to pull the eye to or away from- much like methods used in the darkroom with film.  I love to use long exposures which have a really cool effect of softening out water and clouds.  Exposures can vary from 30 seconds to 5 minutes or more depending on the time of day and light. It does require more patience but the results are usually very intriguing. My favorite places to explore lately are in Southern New England - citing Newport and Outer Cape Cod as favorites.

Thank you so much for visiting my site. I welcome questions and am here to assist you if you are interested in purchasing an image.   I'm always looking for new locations as well, if you care to share those "secret" spots:)
